New Document Issue – Suriname

In April 2025, the Republic of Suriname officially introduced its new ePassport, designed to meet international security and durability standards for travel documents. The project was delivered in partnership with OSD International, a global provider of secure identity solutions.

Suriname, located on the northeastern coast of South America, is now among the leading countries in the region to deploy an ePassport system based on ICAO Doc 9303-compliant specifications, incorporating the latest advances in document security and personalisation.

The new ePassport was officially launched on 25 April by the President of Suriname, Chandrikapersad Santokhi. The system is managed under the eGovernment initiative of the Cabinet of the President, with technical oversight by the Directorate for Civil Affairs.
