New Document Issue – Kenya ePassport

Kenya has launched its next-generation electronic passport, developed in partnership with Veridos, featuring enhanced security architecture and a design framework aligned with national representation.

The datapage is constructed from laser- personalised polycarbonate, incorporating a full-colour portrait created with CLIP ID technology. This enables high-resolution imaging, bonded within the polycarbonate structure, offering resistance against image manipulation and tampering.

Spectre ID technology further contributes to the security layering on the card. It consists of two layers with matching embossed structures, which create a second portrait within a country-shaped window on the datapage. The portrait is only visible upon tilting the document.

Another innovative addition is a lion motif created with Magic ID multiple image technology. This consists of preprinted and specifically arranged pixels combined with lens structures to create a kinetic effect – in this case, a running lion.
