New Document Issue – Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan has begun issuing a redesigned 2025-series biometric passport and matching national ID card, introduced on 3 November. The new travel document aligns with ICAO specifications and is being produced domestically following a government modernisation drive at state printer Uchkun OJSC 1.

The launch presentation was led by state civil registration institution Kyzmat, under the Presidential Affairs Department, at the Yntymak Ordo building in Bishkek 2.

The passport features more than 30 security elements at levels 1, 2, and 3. These include innovative optically variable devices, ultraviolet (UV) printing, a contactless cryptographic chip, and laser-engraved personal data. The datapage adds two transparent windows, one shaped as a traditional Kyrgyz ornament, and the visa pages integrate optically variable imagery.
