Covestro and EMPTECH Announce Partnership

German polymer manufacturer, Covestro, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with China’s EMPTECH to co-develop high-security identity document solutions. The partnership targets passports, national ID cards and driving licences. According to the companies, the purpose of the partnership is to improve the fit between substrate behaviour, security-feature integration and personalisation process control.

EMPTECH (Shenzhen Emperor Technology) is a publicly listed identity technology provider founded in 1995 and headquartered in Shenzhen. It supplies identity document personalisation systems, biometric enrolment and authentication terminals as well as self-service registration kiosks. EMPTECH has integration systems for both centralised and distributed issuance models, with emphasis on automation and personalisation quality. The company states it has nearly 1,000 employees, with over 40% in R&D, and operates service centres in the US, India, Nigeria and Singapore.
