Update on US Transport Security

The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has begun 2026 by pushing further into automated biometric identity verification – while its trusted traveller programme, Global Entry, has been temporarily suspended amid the latest US partial government shutdown.

In January, TSA launched PreCheck® Touchless ID at Boston Logan International Airport, in partnership with Massachusetts Port Authority and participating airlines.

Eligible TSA PreCheck passengers can now verify their identity in dedicated lanes in Terminals A, B and E simply by having a live facial image captured at the checkpoint and matched against their passport photo on file, removing the need to present a physical ID document or boarding pass.
