APTITUDE Launches to Advance Trusted Digital Identity in Europe

A major new initiative, APTITUDE, has launched under the European Commission’s Large-Scale Pilot (LSP) programme to accelerate the rollout of the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet). The initiative will test and implement real-world use cases focused on travel and payment services, two of the most sensitive and high-impact applications of digital identity. These include mobile travel credentials, digital vehicle registration certificates and cross-border payment transactions requiring strong customer authentication. The pilots aim to validate the security and cross-border functionality of the EUDI Wallet before Member States are required to offer it by 2026, under eIDAS 2.0. ²
