Rwanda – launched 1
Rwanda has rolled out a multi-format biometric digital ID system designed to support access to a wide range of national services.
The scheme includes both mobile-based credentials and a physical smartcard, enabling citizens to authenticate across online platforms and government service points. The system incorporates biometric enrolment and digital verification mechanisms, ensuring interoperability with public and private sector services.
