Regula’s New Mobile Document Reader

Regula has released the 7320, a portable document reader that brings many functions of a fixed border-control workstation into a handheld unit.

The 7320 captures images of ID documents (passports, ID cards, residence permits, etc.) in white, UV and IR light using dedicated LEDs and integrated cameras. This allows operators to check print quality, security features, UV fluorescence and IR-dropout elements directly on the device. It also includes an RFID module to read and verify the chip in ePassports and other eDocuments, including data groups, so the digital and visual data can be compared.

In addition to document checks, the 7320 supports biometric enrolment and verification. It can capture a facial image and fingerprints, then compare them to data stored either in the document chip or in backend systems via the Regula IDV Platform. Matching and liveness checks are handled by Regula software, so the device acts as a compact front-end terminal as well as a scanner.
