New Document Issue – Peru DNI 3.0

On 15 April, Peru’s National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC) officially introduced the DNI 3.0 electronic national identity card.

The physical characteristics of the card include:

Material: constructed from durable polycarbonate, ensuring longevity and resistance to tampering.

Dimensions: adheres to ISO 7816 standards, measuring 85.6mm x 53.98mm, with a thickness ranging between 0.68mm-0.84mm.

Design elements: guilloche patterns, optically variable ink, microtext and microline printing, UV-visible features, laser-engraved personal data and images, changeable laser image.

The card’s embedded microchip comprises:

Operating system: Java Card 3.0 with Global Platform 2.2 specifications.

Memory: 144 KB EEPROM.

Security certifications: Common Criteria EAL6+ certification, ensuring high levels of security against tampering and unauthorised access.
