Armenia to Implement New ID System

Armenia is set to introduce a new system for issuing ID cards and biometric passports by 2026, a significant step towards modernising its national identification infrastructure and enhancing security measures. According to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, the project is currently advancing through the second stage of the initial tender process.

Private companies that successfully passed the first round of selection will receive detailed proposals from the government in September 2024. These companies will have until the end of the year to submit their final projects. The evaluation of these submissions will begin in early 2025, with the tender winner expected to be announced by March 2025.
