Lithuania Terminates Passport Contract
Lithuania’s Identity Documents Personalisation Centre (IDPC) has announced the termination of its passport production contract with Garsų Pasaulis, a prominent Lithuanian printing and security solutions company.
The decision to terminate the contract stems from concerns over Garsų Pasaulis’s alleged ties to Belarus, a nation currently under significant European Union sanctions due to human rights violations and other geopolitical tensions.
The IDPC’s termination of the contract reflects broader Lithuanian efforts to minimise potential risks associated with collaboration with entities linked to Belarus.
Garsų Pasaulis has responded strongly, expressing its intention to appeal the termination. The company has a long- standing history in the industry and has been a key player in Lithuania’s identity document production. The company argues that the termination lacks a solid legal basis and could undermine the country’s credibility in awarding and managing critical national contracts.
