Changes in Visa-Free Travel: A Bellwether for Global Mobility

The October 2024 edition of the Henley Passport Index 1 ranks passport strength by the number of countries their holders can visit without requiring a visa. At the top of the list is Singapore, whose passport allows visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 195 countries, maintaining its position as a leader in global mobility.

Following closely are the passports of France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Spain, each granting access to 192 destinations. This strong showing reflects their extensive diplomatic relationships and stable international standings.

The third tier includes Austria, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, South Korea and Sweden, each allowing visa-free travel to 191 countries. These nations benefit from strong regional agreements and economic ties.
