I Don’t Know About You, But I’m Getting Confused

I don’t know if you remember, but during the COVID-19 pandemic, several conspiracy theories circulated regarding Bill Gates and his involvement with digital identity. One theory claimed that Gates was pushing for widespread vaccination in order to implement a digital identification system tied to vaccination records.

Of course, this was just another of the wild conspiracy theories that follow him. Since stepping down from active involvement in Microsoft, Mr Gates has been a vocal advocate for global health initiatives and has funded projects that explore different approaches to digital identity. Conflating them is where the conspiracy theories ferment.

No, I’m not a conspiracy theorist (at least I don’t think I am) but I must admit that I’m getting slightly confused by the strategies and actions of the company he co-founded when it comes to identity-as-a- service (IDaaS).
