TOPPAN Gravity’s New Passport Manufacturing and Issuance Plant in Ethiopia

TOPPAN Gravity Ethiopia Share Company, a joint venture between TOPPAN Gravity Ltd and the government of Ethiopia, has embarked on a project to establish a state-of-the-art passport manufacturing and issuance plant in Addis Ababa. The groundbreaking ceremony for this initiative took place on 8 May.

TOPPAN Gravity Ethiopia was established in July 2023 with the primary goal of advancing the manufacture and issuance of essential government documents, including passports, IDs, and driving licences.

The ownership structure of this joint venture is notable, with the TOPPAN Group holding a 51% stake through its UAE-based subsidiary, Gravity Group Ind, alongside one other company. The Ethiopian government, through the Ethiopian national printer and two other companies, holds the remaining 49%.
