New Document Issues
On 1 December, the Argentine Republic issued a new national electronic identity document. The document is in compliance with international standards, as outlined by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). Here is a summary of the key features of the newly issued document.


New electronic ID features
Material: the ID card is made of polycarbonate material.
Technology: equipped with a contactless chip on the front and a QR code on the back.
Biometric data: It contains the bearer’s biometric data for offline authentication.
Security key: it includes a security key to verify the authenticity of the document.
Offline authentication: it allows for offline authentication.
Security levels
Level 1: various security features such as multilayer polycarbonate substrate, high-security backgrounds, laser engraving for data personalisation, hologram, ghost image, laser customisation, tactile relief printing.
Other levels: Level 2 and 3 security features also incorporated.
Issuance processes
Eligibility: issued for adults and minors, nationals, and foreigners with different types of residence status.
Validity: the ID is valid for Argentine nationals for a period of 15 years from the date of issuance.
Observations: personal data is printed in capital letters, and there are specific inscriptions for individuals who have been combatants in the Malvinas Islands.

Front side: Argentine cockade, stars, Sun of May, bicontinental map, Perito Moreno glacier, Andes mountains, and ICAO logo for electronic documents.
Reverse side: historical flag monument, Malvinas Islands, national flower (ceibo), Argentine Republic flag, southern right whale.
Digital identity
QR code: on the reverse side.
Machine readable zone: three lines with 30 positions.
Additional signatures
Bearer’s signature: on the front side.
Interior Minister’s signature: on the reverse side.
