Excitement Growing for THC Online™ 2022
The programme is set, the nominations for awards are in, the speakers are getting ready, all that’s needed now is for more participants to get online and register for The Holography Conference™ Online (THCO), which takes place 5-6 December!
THCO is organised by Reconnaissance, with the support of the International Hologram Manufacturers Association (IHMA). It’s the conference that has tracked every new development in holography since 1990!
After the success of THCO 2021, the programme organisers have decided to stick with the format of four sessions spread over the two-day online conference.
Session 1 – Holography – from Inception to Present Day
In this, the 75th anniversary year of the granting of the patent that led to the invention of holography, it seems appropriate to take stock of how far the industry has come.
As an optical security device, holography has proven itself to be an enduring and evolving technology in document security and brand protection, and as a technology enabler it is set to play an instrumental role in the development of the Metaverse.
Presentations in this session will chart the development of holography over the past 75 years, look at what a hologram actually is (and isn’t), and lay out a roadmap for a sustainability charter for the industry.
Session 2 – Protection and Prevention – High Security Features in Action
Long before the first banknotes and ID cards used holograms as their principal first level security feature, holograms could be found protecting cheques, certificates, licences, and many other documents of value.
This session will look at current applications where holograms maintain their cherished position at the forefront of counterfeit deterrence but increasingly are seen alongside optical devices that use non-diffractive techniques.
Session 3 – Security and Beyond – New Techniques and Applications
This session will investigate the new techniques that continue to make holography such a thriving market sector.
Zero order gratings, computer-generated holograms, cold foiling and holographic sculptures are amongst the new applications featured in this session.
Session 4 – Continuing Development for a Brighter Future
In addition to delving into research projects for wavefront recording and reconstruction, this session will also bring together some of the market developments that are happening around the world.
At the end of each session there will be an opportunity for the audience to put their questions to all of the speakers from that session in a Q&A.
The long-standing collaboration between The Holography Conference, Holography News™ and the IHMA will continue this year, with the presentation at the end of the conference of the Excellence in Holography Awards 2022 for the most noteworthy holographic projects of the year.
Moreover, all IHMA members can participate THCO free of charge as part of their membership, as can representatives from government authorities (eg. central banks, revenue authorities, ID and travel document issuers).
