Thales Technology Selected for New Schengen ‘Entry Exit System’ in Spain
By the end of this year, Schengen member states will be required to have a biometric entry and exit system to register non- European citizens crossing an external EU border. Thales, in collaboration with the company Zelenza, has been selected by the Spanish Ministry of Interior to provide over 1,500 Manual Border Control Inspection units across all border- crossing points.
Those units located at the border officers’ control points will be equipped with Thales EES (Entry / Exit System) Border Control Clearance Software and with Thales’ devices such as document readers with embedded document verification, fingerprint scanners, and face pods with a facial capture system. These integrated systems will deliver a fast and secure identity enrolment and clearance process for non-EU citizens at borders.
The contract will be executed over the next eight months, during which these modern systems will be deployed at airports, ports and land crossings throughout Spain.
Funded by the EU’s Internal Security Fund, the new system will facilitate the border clearance of travellers while increasing the security at the Schengen borders.
‘Thales’ manual checkpoints are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies for identity creation and verification. At our Madrid Biometrics Competence Centre, we have developed tools for document and people verification that are already in use in other countries in Europe, Asia, America and Africa’ said Youzec Kurp – SVP Identity and Biometric Solutions at Thales.
SailPoint Achieves FedRAMP ‘In Process’ Designation
The FedRAMP designation is an important step toward SailPoint being able to deliver multi-tenant SaaS (Software as a Service) identity security to government agency customers.
FedRAMP is the US government’s standardised approach to providing security authorisations for the adoption and use of cloud services by the federal government. The government-wide program’s goal is to accelerate the use of secure cloud technologies by government agencies. The ‘In Process’ designation is an important step toward full FedRAMP authorisation.
Once SailPoint is fully FedRAMP authorised, it will have what it believes to be one of the only multi-tenant SaaS identity security offerings in the federal marketplace, allowing federal organizations that seek a cloud-based solution to put SailPoint at the core of securing their organization.
Based on artificial intelligence and machine learning, the SailPoint Identity Security Platform delivers the correct level of access to the right identities and resources at the right time, says the company. Its ‘intelligent, autonomous, and integrated solutions put identity security at the core of digital business operations, enabling even the most complex organizations across the globe to build a security foundation capable of defending against today’s most pressing threats’.
The FedRAMP ‘In Process’ designation indicates that SailPoint plans to achieve a FedRAMP Authorized product within 12 months of the ‘In Process’ date.
AU10TIX Protects Businesses Against $2 Billion In Fraud
AU10TIX, a leading provider of fully automated identity verification technology, has announced that the company has prevented $2 billion in fraud related losses to businesses since the start of 2022.
As inflation grows, so does financial activity, leading to more opportunities for fraud within the financial sector. ‘Financial service providers and institutions are turning to AU10TIX to confidently connect with their customers to onboard and re-verify accounts in a matter of seconds in the post-pandemic reality in which the safety, security, and efficiency of physical and digital experiences must be tied to ever-more aspects of people’s identities’, said the company.
‘We are on the cusp of a new era that will be defined by who controls data,’ it continued. According to recent AU10TIX research 1, a majority (77%) of Americans place the responsibility of safeguarding the information they share on the business or organisation asking for it, and more than four in five Americans (81%) believe there is a lack of transparency in how businesses utilise their personal information. ‘Lines are now converging towards a clear endpoint where individuals will soon demand to exercise full control over their personal data.’
In early 2021, AU10TIX joined forces with Microsoft on Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) to help improve verifiability and secure information for workforces. The company has also engaged with a strategic partner in North America with whom they have developed an identity verification and risk management solution for governments and corporations.
AU10TIX recently earned AI Breakthrough Award’s ‘Best Use of AI for Authentication’ award, highlighting how its proprietary technology verifies identities in a matter of seconds. Harnessing deep machine learning algorithms and computer vision, AU10TIX performs identity document verification and authentication in approximately four to eight seconds.
Bectran Launches Automated Driving Licence Verification Solution
Credit, collections and accounts receivable software company Bectran Inc has released an identity validation solution designed to streamline the customer onboarding process with increased security.
The Bectran All-in-One Credit, Collections & Accounts Receivable Management Platform can now validate driving licence information through automation as part of the initial customer credit worthiness evaluation process, which isolates and reduces instances of fraud in new customer set up.
Fraud-proof credit management processes require that businesses verify the identity and risks involved in maintaining a business relationship with any given entity. Business owners prove their authenticity by providing a form of identification, usually a driving licence. Currently, credit departments rely on laborious and antiquated processes to ensure that personal identification forms are valid for new customer set up. Inadequate business identity verification capability can put businesses at risk of financial loss and significantly extend the credit processing turnaround time.
Bectran’s automated driving licence verification solution was developed to further strengthen its suite of business identity management solutions, and to reduce the time needed to validate a driving licence against the respective state’s bureau.
The solution securely captures, stores, and validates driving licence information, relying solely on automation without manual intervention. Furthermore, the driving licence verification results can be used as part of the auto approval model to instantly grant credit to businesses.
